With a reputation for providing a first class education and professional development to the shipping profession, ICS qualifications confer a status not equalled elsewhere in the industry.

ICS delivers its main educational programme – TutorShip – directly from its London head office and through 16 distance learning centres worldwide. Every year thousands of students sit the ICS Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE).

Following completion, successful candidates can apply for membership, gaining strong career advantages and industry recognition.

The PQEs represent the highest level of ICS qualifications. They consist of seven exams completed over a period of up to five years.

Four subjects are compulsory while the remaining three are selected from optional subjects. Many candidates complete the programme earlier depending on experience and exemptions.

Ideal for beginners, the Foundation Diploma provides practical knowledge and a strong introduction to shipping. It includes Introduction to Shipping plus an additional subject.
