The Maritime Training Institute, Karachi was formed in 1998 to protect Pakistan's strategic maritime interest as well as to promote the Education & Training in compliance to the International Convention on Standards of Training and Certification of Seafarers 1978, as amended in 1995, and to satisfy the recommendations of IMO/ILO Documents of Guidance 1985. With this new setup a macro approach towards global maritime issues can be adopted which will better serve the interests of the Shipping and Maritime Industry.

To prepare graduates for careers as navigation officers, marine surveyors, and other professions in the maritime industry, it offers theoretical study and hands-on experience aboard ships. Students are taught navigation and seamanship, marine engineering, safety and survival, maritime law and regulations, as well as cargo handling and operations, by the institute. Since that Pakistan is a coastline nation, the Nautical Institute provides individuals interested in working in the marine industry with attractive job options.

(HND) Higher National Diploma is for the students who have passed their intermediate with Engineering fields. For first year you have to study in Pakistan at our Maritime Training Institute which is outreach campus of City of Glasgow. After 1 year you have to continue your remaining 2 years qualification abroad from City of Glasgow College, UK. When you complete 3 years of your education then the degree will e issued to you. Due to pandemic (COVID-19) we arranged hassle were arranged online sections for the students. But for now we are just giving our educational services in campus.
For every course you must have to come in the campus for all the practical part included in the course.
In Pakistan: Well for the first year in MTI, students have to arrange their Accommodation by themselves.
