Introduction

HND Nautical Science is a degree program that equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to work in the maritime industry. In Pakistan, the demand for skilled professionals in the maritime sector has been increasing in recent years, and the HND Nautical Science program is one of the most sought-after courses for students looking to pursue a career in this field. The program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of navigation, ship stability, meteorology, and marine engineering. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a practical and theoretical understanding of the maritime industry, including the technical and managerial aspects of the field. The program is usually completed over a period of two years and is available in many colleges and universities throughout Pakistan.
To develop the competency required to enable the cadets to carry out his duties as Officer of the Watch on board Merchant ships.
To provide the cadets with HND qualification which is accepted by MCA for obtaining exemption from some of academic papers of class 2 (Deck) & Class 1 (Deck) and to comply with MCA’s standard’s certification requirements.
To satisfy all the requirements laid down by the MCA, the Merchant Navy Training Board and the I.M.O Convention on standards of training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW 95), the Institute is offering a Higher National Diploma in Nautical Science. The HND holder will require a training period of 15 months Sea Service to be eligible for entry to the MCA Officer of the Watch Certificate of Competency (U.K.). Scheme of training is approved by the Merchant Navy Training Board - U.K and the MCA U.K.
